Record Robbin'
Robin Yount's 3,000th Hit Record

On Sept. 9th, Robin Yount of the Milwaukee Brewers did what only sixteen other people have ever done before. He became the seventeenth player in major league history to reach 3,000 hits.

Yount's total is enough to certainly qualify him for the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. But, he also has more extra-base hits (915) than Duke Snider and Joe Cronin who are both hall of famers. He has been voted MVP twice at two different positions, once as a centerfielder and once as a short stop. He has also led the American League in fielding percentages as both an infielder and an outfielder.

Phil Garner, Manager of the Brewers, says "He's a lock for the hall." Sports Illustrated said, "He is as pure a player as there has been in the last twenty years." So not only has Robin Yount been guilty of robbing batters of their hits from extraordinary fielding, he is now guilty of robbing the record book where his name will stand with some of the best ever to play the game.
