Junior wide receiver phenomenon Amari Cooper has been a pivotal part of the Crimson Tide offense since his arrival in 2012. From his humble beginnings in Miami, Florida to his Heisman race at the University of Alabama, Cooper’s opponents have always found him as a force to be reckoned with on the field. During the senior year of his high school career, he was ranked in the top 10 receiver prospects in the entire country. His talent and work ethic were sought after by the top collegiate football programs in the nation, but Amari chose Alabama.
As a freshman in 2012, Cooper was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team by a panel of collegiate coaches and earned consensus Freshman All-American honors. By the end of his freshman season, Amari not only had more receiving touchdowns than any other freshman in Alabama football history, but had also broken Julio Jones’ freshman records with 59 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards. After finishing his sophomore season with 45 catches, a team high of 736 yards, and 28 catches converted to Alabama first downs, Cooper had set the stage for a record shattering career at the Capstone.
Looking at the 2014 football season, Cooper is still breaking records and setting the stage for another successful Alabama season. During Alabama’s 2014 game with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Cooper passed the mark for 3,000 career receiving yards, making him the first Alabama receiver to reach this milestone. This amazing receiver continued to break records during the SEC Championship Game against Missouri by compiling 115 single-season SEC receptions surpassing the former record of 113.
Rick Rush, America’s Sports Artist, captures this amazing athlete in mid-reception in his new artwork entitled, Amazing Amari. Through Rush’s masterful brush strokes, he is able to bring the viewer onto the field and witness first-hand as Cooper makes one of his record-breaking catches. Amari Cooper has become the Crimson Tide’s best receiver in the history of the program and, through Rick Rush’s canvas, collectors now have the opportunity to relive each exceptional catch for a lifetime.
