St. Louis, Missouri – Deaf Empowerment Awareness Foundation, Inc(DEAF Inc.) is pleased to reveal the nationwide tour of Stronger Than Ever, a commissioned giclée series detailing several aspects of the hidden and often overlooked culture – deaf culture with a strong unified message that the deaf community is Stronger Than Ever. In 2012, Rick Rush, a world renowned sports painter, was commissioned to design and conduct a collage that represented the missions of DEAF Inc. and countless other similar deaf-based organizations.
Rick Rush admitted that this project has taken him out of his comfort zone – which are sport paintings, however, he enthusiastically tackled the challenge. Rick partnered with the DEAF Inc. leadership team and worked tirelessly with many stakeholders in the deaf and hard of hearing community. Rick utilized what he learned and experienced with the deafcommunity to create this masterpiece, which exhibits multiple perspectives of those within the deaf culture and their experiences. To summarize Rick’s experience, he said that the deaf and hard of hearing community today isStronger Than Ever thanks to organizations like DEAF Inc. who are breaking communication barriers everyday.
To compliment the Stronger Than Ever giclée series, DEAF Inc. is pleased to launch a web site – www.deafinc.org/rush - consisting comprehensive interviews with Rick Rush, explaining the hidden messages behind the painting and personal experience in this project. The interview is completed with sign language interpretation, spoken language, and closed captioning so everyone can have access.
DEAF Inc. is proud to share and make this painting available to all deaf and hard of hearing communities across the nation.
